One of An Garda Síochána’s 25 superintendent appointments, which take effect today, is to Kerry.
Superintendent Patrick O’Shea will be based at Killarney Garda Station.
Under the operating model introduced in 2022, superintendents in Kerry no longer have responsibility for geographical areas.

Instead, each oversees one of four functional areas within the gardaí.
Following his transfer, Superintendent O’Shea will manage the Kerry Performance Assurance Functional Area, which looks after internal standards, discipline, and engagement with Fiosrú, the Office of the Police Ombudsman.
