Further remand in custody for Castleisland man facing criminal damage charges

A Castleisland man has been further remanded in custody in relation to criminal damage charges.

37-year-old John Paul O’Brien of 25 An Caisleán Mór, Castleisland appeared before Judge Treasa Kelly recently.

It’s alleged that on April 21st, John Paul O’Brien trespassed at a property in An Caisleán Mór, Castleisland and made threats intending to damage property.

He also faces criminal damage and assault charges at the same property and on the same date.

The court previously heard that further charges were being considered.

The 37-year-old appeared before Tralee District Court via video-link from Cork Prison recently.

Sergeant Stephen O’Brien advised Judge Treasa Kelly that the book of evidence is not yet available.

Mr O’Brien’s solicitor, Pat Mann asked for the book of evidence to be expedited.

In response, Sgt O’Brien advised he was uncertain as to when it will be ready.

Judge Kelly further remanded Mr O’Brien in custody, to appear before Tralee District Court on September 3rd.

Mr Mann requested, that should the book of evidence be available for service on this date, that his client be produced in person, which the state consented to.
