Castleisland man remanded in custody in relation to criminal damage and assault charges

A Castleisland man has been remanded in continuing custody in relation to criminal damage and assault charges.

37-year-old John Paul O’Brien of 25 An Caisleán Mór, Castleisland appeared before Judge David Waters recently, facing four charges.

John Paul O’Brien appeared before Tralee District Court via-video-link from Cork Prison.

It’s alleged that on April 21st he trespassed at a property in An Caisleán Mór, Castleisland and made threats intending to damage property.

He also faces criminal damage and assault charges at the same property and on the same date.

His solicitor, Pat Mann told the court that an application for bail for his client is due before the High Court.

Sergeant Chris Manton advised that DPP directions are awaited in relation to the case.

Sgt Manton outlined that Mr O’Brien has been in custody since April 23rd and indicated that one charge against him is to be struck out.

Judge Waters remanded him in continuing custody, to appear before Tralee District Court on June 11th, via video-link for DPP directions.
