Funding has been secured to convert a Listowel day care centre into a residential unit for adults with disabilities.
In March, HSE South West announced a plan with St John of God Kerry Services to convert Ashfield Lodge.
The executive now states funding is in place to convert the building into a residential unit for four people and to recruit additional staff.
Refurbishment work is expected to take several months.
Once completed and registered with HIQA, Ashfield Lodge will become home to four adults with disabilities.
St John of God Kerry Services will be responsible for keeping families updated on the project.
Head of Disability Services at HSE South West, Angela O’Neill said, “Once registered, this house will provide a home for four people with disabilities. We are pleased to work with St John of God on this very positive development which will allow four people from Kerry to access a residential service in their own county.”
