Full-time residential care home for adults with disabilities officially opened in Killarney

A healthcare facility which will provide full-time residential care for adults with disabilities has been officially opened in Killarney.

Minister for Children, Disability and Equality Norma Foley opened Alder Lodge.

Alder Lodge is a T1 Healthcare HIQA-approved home in Killarney which will provide full-time residential care for adults with disabilities and other challenges.

The primary focus of T1 Healthcare is to provide full-time residential care in houses that provide comfort, support and care of the highest standard affording a home away from home for residents.

There are currently three such residences in Kerry; in Laurel Court in Oakpark, Tralee which has capacity for three residents; in Ashwood House in Killarney which can house four residents and now Alder Lodge which has capacity for three residents.

T1 Healthcare also operates Cunamh Respite Centre in Cahersiveen which provides critical and essential support and respite to families who care for loved ones full-time in their own homes.

A further two houses are due to come on stream in Bandon, Co Cork in the short-term and these residences will have the capacity to cater for up to eight residents.
