Only five applications for a direct income support scheme for Irish farmers were rejected for Kerry farmers in 2025.
This is down from 12 rejected applications last year for the Basic Income Support for Sustainability (BISS).
The reason for the refusals were late applications, and the two appeals that were made to overturn the decision were successful.
In 2024, the 12 refusals were also based on late applications, past the closing date of June 6th.
Of these refusals, 8 were appealed, 6 successfully.
Nationwide, 124,195 applications were made, of which 117,597 were successful.
The BISS payments for 2025 were due to commence on October 16th.
The figures were supplied by Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine Martin Heydon, following a query from Fianna Fáil TD John Connolly.
