Over 6,700 (6,703) farmers in Kerry are to benefit from €13.6 million in funding as part of the Eco-Scheme.
The scheme is part of Ireland’s CAP Strategic Plan 2023–2027, and rewards farmers for implementing measures that improve the quality of our rural environment.
Nationwide, over 100,000 (109,853) farmers will share in a total of €194.5 million, with a payment rate of €66 per eligible hectare.
The payments are a recognition of the role farmers play in protecting the climate, and biodiversity.
The funding has been welcomed by Children's Minister and Kerry Fianna Fáil TD Norma Foley, Deputy Michael Cahill and Fine Gael Senator Mike Kennelly.
