The first count has been completed for the Kerry constituency presidential election vote.
The votes have been sent to Dublin Castle where the presidential returning officer for the country, Barry Ryan, will oversee the count.
It is likely that the results of the first official count will be announced at the Killarney Sports and Leisure Centre around 5.30.
The official turnout figures from Kerry will also be announced with the first count results, but voter turnout has been confirmed at 45%.
Tallies have been completed with the following results according to the Catherine Connolly campaign team in Kerry.
- Independent Catherine Connolly, at 62.99%,
- Fine Gael's Heather Humphreys, at 29.51%
- while tallies for withdrawn Fianna Fáil candidate Jim Gavin, put him at 7.5%
It is important to remember that the tallies are only an estimate and are not to be confused with final count figures.
According to the tallies, it's estimated that around 13% of the votes are spoiled votes.
