An investigation file, relating to the discovery of a baby boy's body on a beach in South Kerry 42 years ago, has been submitted to the DPP.
Known as Baby John, he was found with 28 stab wounds on White Strand, Cahersiveen on April 14th, 1984.
Gardaí from the Kerry Division, supported by the Garda Serious Crime Review Team, have this morning confirmed an investigation file relating to the so-called 'Kerry Babies' case has now been submitted to the Director of Public Prosecutions.
It follows the arrests of a man in his 60s and a woman in her 50s in March 2023 on suspicion of murder.
They were both later released without charge.
At the time, gardaí said DNA testing established the couple as Baby John's parents, but that it did not establish who murdered him.
In a statement this morning, gardaí say they have no further comment at this time.
