A Fianna Fáil Minister of State says Micheál Martin will lead the party into the next general election.
Niall Collins was reacting to a the results of a recent poll conducted by Irish Examiner.
It found the majority (59%) of Fianna Fáil’s TDs, Senators and MEPs think the Taoiseach should stand down as party leader at the end of the year.
A number of frontrunners have emerged from the survey, including Jim O’Callaghan, Dara Calleary, Jack Chambers and Children’s Minister and Kerry TD, Norma Foley.
Junior Minister Niall Collins believes Micheál Martin will remain at the helm.

Minister of State Collins is in Killarney today to attend citizenship ceremonies at the Gleneagle Arena, which got under way yesterday.
Across the two days, over 4,600 people are taking an oath of fidelity to the Irish state and receiving their citizenship.
