Fenit RNLI is getting a new lifeboat.
The new Shannon class lifeboat, Roy Barker VII, will replace the station’s all-weather Trent class lifeboat, which has served the community for over a quarter of a century.
A group from Fenit travelled to the All-Weather Lifeboat Centre in Poole to see the over €3 million lifeboat and for a traditional bell ringing ceremony.
Fenit RNLI Lifeboat Operations Manager, Fergus Kelliher says this new lifeboat will strengthen and continue to build upon their longstanding lifesaving history.
The lifeboat service in Fenit was established in 1879.
PRO for Fenit RNLI, Mary O'Brien Browne says they are delighted to be getting this new boat, which she says will be a great addition to the work they do; she says they are modernising for the future.
