Fenit RNLI encouraging sea-goers to prepare after callout yesterday afternoon

The Fenit RNLI is encouraging people to prepare when planning a trip to the sea.

It’s after the RNLI responded to a report just after 4pm yesterday that two adults were stranded on a rock at Ross Point, north of Loop Head in Clare, with a rising tide.

The Fenit lifeboat launched immediately under Coxswain Denise Lynch and with four crew members on-board.

As the lifeboat approached the scene, the Coxswain was informed the Rescue 115 helicopter had recovered the two adults.

The Fenit RNLI is asking anyone planning to go to sea to check the weather and tides in advance, and always let someone on the shore know where you’re going and when you’re due back.

If you’re in difficulty or see someone else in trouble, you should call 999 or 112 and ask for the Coast Guard.
