A female swimmer is recovering in hospital after being rescued from the sea in Ballybunion this morning.
The alarm was raised when two kayakers noticed the swimmer getting into difficulties off the Ladies beach around 10am.
She was brought to safety in a rescue operation involving the Ballybunion Sea Rescue Unit and Community Rescue Boat Ireland.

Both an ambulance and the Rescue 115 helicopter also attended the scene.
The woman is currently recovering at University Hospital Kerry.
