Emergency services praised for response to Tralee house explosion

Gardaí say an explosion at a house in Tralee is not being treated as suspicious at this time.

A man in his 40s is being treated for serious injuries at University Hospital Kerry following the incident last evening; three others were also evacuated from the premises.

Emergency services were alerted to an explosion at a residence in Manor East, shortly after 5PM on Wednesday.

A technical examination of the scene is ongoing this afternoon and investigations are continuing.

Meanwhile, The acting chief fire officer with Kerry Fire & Emergency Service says units battled the blaze for three hours.

Eoin O'Donnell would not be drawn on the possible causes of the explosion.

He praised the response of the emergency services as it occurred in a busy location during rush hour.
