€7 million allocated for wastewater treatment infrastructure in Beaufort

€7 million in funding has been allocated for wastewater treatment infrastructure in Beaufort.

The funding will provide the community with a modern wastewater treatment plant, providing connections for existing homes and enabling the construction of new homes.

The investment will also safeguard water quality in the area.

In December 2023, the Department of Housing approved funding of €6.7 million in principle for a new wastewater treatment scheme for Beaufort under the Multi-annual Rural Water Programme.

Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage, Minister James Browne TD announced an additional €14.3 million in funding for wastewater improvement project, increasing the amount allocated to Beaufort to €7 million.

The funding has been welcomed by Minister for Disability Norma Foley, Minister of State Michael Healy-Rae. Deputy Danny Healy-Rae, and Fine Gael Senator Mike Kennelly.

Deputy Michael Cahill has also welcomed the funding, but has called on the works to be expedited
