A €150,000 contract has gone to tender for the removal of invasive rhododendron across almost 115 hectares of Killarney National Park.
The National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is seeking contractors to eradicate Rhododendron and cotoneaster at two sites within the park.
The works have been divided into two lots, covering 54.14 hectares at Gortderraree and 60.7 hectares at Looscaunagh.
The department says the project is aimed at controlling invasive species and supporting the protection and restoration of biodiversity and ecosystems.
The contract is being offered through an open tender process and the successful contractor, or contractors, will have three months to complete the works.
The deadline for the submission of tenders is 17 June.
