The number of drugs searches by gardaí in Kerry has decreased in the last two years.
Figures provided by Minister for Justice, Jim O’Callaghan, show there were 778 searches by gardaí in Kerry under the Drugs Act in 2022.
These include operations targeting both simple possession of drugs, and possession for sale or supply.
This then dropped by almost 15% in 2023, when there were 663 such drugs searches in Kerry.
In 2024, that figure increased to 713, which is still eight per cent below the 2022 figure.
The data was provided in response to a parliamentary question by Fine Gael TD for Clare, Joe Cooney.
