Deputy Danny Healy-Rae says independent TDs shouldn’t have a role in promoting candidates for the presidency.
The Kerry Independent TD says he has no role in the internal selection processes when political parties are selecting their candidates for the Presidential election.
His brother Minister of State Michael Healy-Rae endorsed Heather Humphreys in the race for the Áras, but denied he left Sean Kelly down by doing so stating Mr Kelly wasn’t in the race at the time.

However, Deputy Danny Healy-Rae says he’d have to back Sean Kelly if was on the ballot paper.
He says he feels it’d be a great honour for the people of Kerry to have the President of Ireland from the county:
