A Kerry minister of state denies he left Sean Kelly down when he endorsed Heather Humphreys for the Presidency.

Ireland South MEP Sean Kelly from Kilcummin and former minister Heather Humphreys are both seeking the Fine Gael nomination for the Presidency following the withdrawal of Mairead McGuinness.

At the end of last week, Minister of State and Kerry Independent TD Michael Healy-Rae gave his support to Heather Humphreys in the race for the Áras.

The Kerry TD says Sean Kelly would be a brilliant candidate, but he says when he endorsed Heather Humphreys, his fellow Kerry man was not back in the race:

Michael Healy-Rae says a key reason why he's supporting Heather Humphreys is because she helped ensure that a movie in the Star Wars series was filmed on Skellig Michael.

He also says he doesn't want independent TD Catherine Connolly winning the Presidential election by default.
