Over three fifths (62.6%) of homes in Kerry used oil as their main central heating fuel in 2022.
That’s according to figures in the CSO’s latest Affordable and Clean Energy report.
The report shows that electricity (11.2%) and peat – including turf (7.6%) were the next most popular forms of heating households.
Just over 5% of Kerry homes used coal in the year, just under 3% heated their houses using wood (2.7%), while LPG (1.3%), other fuels (1.4%) and no central heating (1.6%) accounted for the remainder.
The figures show 4.1% of private households in the county did not state how they heated their homes.
