Final statements are being heard in court in the trial of a Kerry man in Greece.
Seán Binder, who grew up in Castlegregory, is standing trial at the Court of Appeal in Lesvos, Greece, along with 23 other migrant rescue volunteers.
He faces charges including membership of a criminal organisation, money laundering, and smuggling, and faces up to 20 years in prison on conviction.
Mr Binder maintains his innocence, and told the court this earlier today that he was working for the search & rescue NGO, Emergency Response Centre International – spotting boats & helping people in distress.
An Amnesty spokesperson in court says the prosecutor also told the court the charges are unproven, and the defence lawyers are making their final statements.
The judge's verdict will follow, but it's expected this may run until tomorrow.
