Kerry County Council will write to Uisce Éireann to examine connecting Boolteens to the Castlemaine sewerage scheme.
It follows Fine Gael councillor Tommy Griffin's motion at the recent meeting of the Castleisland-Corca Dhuibhne Municipal District.
He says the Castlemaine treatment scheme had major investment in 2020, but it is completely unutilised.
Cllr Griffin believes small villages like Boolteens are not a priority for the utility; and asked Uisce Éireann to look into the feasibility of opening the scheme to smaller areas.
The motion was seconded by Fianna Fáil councillor, Breandán Fitzgerald.
