Councillors have given the green light for a proposed water sports-based facility at Ballybunion beach.
A vote was taken on the part 8 proposal at the Listowel Municipal District meeting, with it receiving unanimous support.
The development will be located at Ballybunion South beach and includes a new public realm area adjacent to the facility, linking with the existing promenade.
The meeting heard 13 responses were received during the public consultation stage, including from community groups, residents and state bodies.
The proposed works include covered spaces, showers, toilets, accessible changing areas, raised planters, seating and accessible ramps to the beach.
Council management advised it’s expected that construction will commence in September or October, subject to funding.
