The lack of certainty over a school bus service in West Kerry can be attributed to fewer school bus drivers.
That’s according to Sinn Féin councillor for the Corca Dhuibhne Municipal District, Robert Brosnan.
He was reacting after up to 40 students were left in limbo following an email which stated a school bus service wouldn’t be available for a number of weeks.
Bus Éireann later sourced interim cover to allow the route to operate.
Cllr Brosnan says the email caused families and students needless stress, and described the situation not being sorted in advance - as “irresponsible and reckless”.
He believes the school bus system needs a complete overhaul and made these suggestions:
