Councillor says Blennerville walkway could be starting point for Tralee-Dingle Greenway

A walkway from Tralee to Blennerville along the railway tracks could be the starting point for a Tralee-Dingle Greenway project.

That's the view of Fianna Fáil councillor Mikey Sheehy, who tabled a motion at the recent Tralee Municipal District meeting on the matter.

Cllr Sheehy called on the council to consider developing a walkway/greenway linking the Tralee Bay Wetlands to Blennerville along the tracks.

In response, the council said this proposal is currently under consideration with the North Kerry Walks Committee and the North, East and West Kerry Development, and a feasibility study is being carried out on the Tralee-Blennerville link.

The council stated however, a greenway extension beyond Blennerville on to Dingle is a major project that will likely take many years to plan and develop, and require substantial government investment.
