Draft report on Tralee-Blennerville steam train due by end of July

A draft report on the feasibility for the reinstatement of the Tralee to Blennerville steam train is due by the end of this month.

In the 1990s and early 2000s, a steam train served as a tourist attraction, running between Tralee and Blennerville from the old Tralee to Dingle line.

In response to a question from Sinn Féin councillor Paul Daly, Kerry County Council said an initial draft of a feasibility report it commissioned will be completed by the end of July.

That report is being done by consultants, who are doing a detailed condition survey and assessment of the existing rail assets, while they also visited the site.

The council said the consultants will examine options for repurposing the existing assets, and look at one or several potential future uses.
