A Fianna Fáil councillor is hopeful that an agreement can be reached between the receivers of an historic South Kerry hotel and any potential new owners.
Cllr Norma Moriarty says it’s her understanding that staff at the Butler Arms Hotel in Waterville have been served notice.
She believes there is serious interest in the premises which was put on the market in May with a guide price of €6 million.
The 36-bedroom hotel is part of the portfolio of the Press Up hospitality group, which went into receivership earlier this year.
Cllr Moriarty believes the notice serving represents a move to the next phase towards a sale; and reopening of the Butler Arms for the tourism season.
She says this would be positive for staff and the village.
