Councillors have sought an update as to when Rattoo Round Tower will officially reopen to the public.
Sinn Féin councillor Tom Barry tabled the motion at a recent Listowel Municipal District meeting, to write to the minister responsible for the Office of Public Works.
Cllr Barry said works have been dragging on there for 15 years, with visitors only able to explore the area around the medieval tower in Ballyduff.
He believes given its location along the Wild Atlantic Way, it could be a major tourist attraction, however, it’s being wasted.
Kerry County Council said in response the matter was raised with Minister of State Kevin 'Boxer'Moran during his recent visit to Kerry.
Cllr Barry's motion was seconded by Cllr Michael Leane.
