Kerry County Council has been urged to provide a walkway and cycle path along the Killarney bypass.
Independent councillor Martin Grady raised the motion at the recent MD meeting, asking the council to liaise with the TII to erect a crash barrier along the route.
He said such an amenity would be ideally suited to transform the waste ground inside the hard shoulder of the bypass.
Cllr Grady said such a facility can be seen along the Castleisland bypass, which he described as a fantastic idea, that’s always being used by locals.
In response the council said the provision of active travel facilities on the N22 Killarney bypass are under consideration.
