A South Kerry councillor has aired his frustration at what he describes as the local authority's lack of action on the coastal crisis.
Fianna Fáil’s Tommy Cahill was speaking at recent meeting of Kerry County Council.
He says he’s shocked and angered that no applications have been submitted to the OPW for coastal protection and flood relief works at Rossbeigh or Cromane.
Cllr Cahill stated that high tides and storms have battered seaside areas across Kerry recently, and expressed frustration that the situation in some parts of the county is at breaking point.
He noted that Minister Kevin Boxer Moran stated that money is available but the local authority must apply.
Cllr Cahill urged the council to make submissions immediately to protect coastal communities.
