The local authority has been urged to install public lighting along a popular stretch of road in West Kerry.
It follows a motion by Fianna Fáil councillor Breandán Fitzgerald at the recent Castleisland-Corca Dhuibhne MD.
He sought for the installation of public lighting in Ventry, between the village and the Community Hall.
The council stated the section from the village to the beach junction can be examined; however, the remaining section can only be considered with additional safety features.
Cllr Fitzgerald urged for the installation of a footpath to link up with the existing path, to allow the whole route be lit.
He also appealed for traffic calming measures and a pedestrian crossing to be installed in Ventry village.
For web: The motion was seconded by Fine Gael councillor, Tommy Griffin.
Kerry County Council responded that this location will be kept under review and will be considered should a suitable source of funding be made available for such works.
