Councillors in North Kerry are urging for signage to be installed discouraging HGVs from driving on the Foildarrig Bridge from the Duagh side.
It follows a motion from Independent councillor Liam Speedy Nolan at the recent meeting of Listowel Municipal District.
He outlined that HGVs traveling the route from this direction get caught on the railway bridge, becoming stuck; and it often takes two hours to free the vehicles.
Cllr Nolan urged the council to install a no HGVs sign on the turn for Foildarrig Bridge along the R555, to alert drivers of the issue.
The motion was seconded by Sinn Féin councillor, Tom Barry.
In response, Kerry County Council says an assessment will be carried out, in accordance with the Traffic Signs Manual.
