Kerry County Council says decisions on road closures during Féile Thrá Lí are not taken lightly.
In a statement to Radio Kerry, the council outlined it has been working in conjunction with the festival organising committee and Gardaí to plan the event for several months.
It says road closures are done to ensure the health and safety of the public, to allow them enjoy Féile Thrá Lí's street events safely.
Tralee Taxi Association aired its disappointment that temporary ranks will not be in place during the festival.
In response, the council says it consulted with the group as part of the event planning process.
