Kerry County Council has given the go-ahead for 27 new houses in Ballybunion.
ACG Ventures LTD trading as Atlantic Golf Construction applied for planning permission to build the houses behind St John’s Church in the town.
The housing development will include six one-bedroom houses and two, two-bedroom homes.
There will also be 15 three-bed homes and four, four-bed houses.
The company proposed that five units be provided for social housing, under its legal obligations.
The land, to the back of St John’s Church and graveyard, is owned by St Brendan’s Trust, which has given written permission for the company to submit the planning application.
Kerry County Council granted planning permission subject to 20 conditions.
As part of the conditions, the developer must pay a contribution of almost €19,000 to the council before construction begins, to pay for the upgrading of public footpaths, lighting, road surface, and road markings on Church Road in Ballybunion.
Another condition stipulates that the houses shall only be used as a primary, permanent, all year-round private residences, and specifically says they shall not be used as holiday homes or second homes.
