The Kerry Person of the Year has been announced.
David Walsh from Cordal has been named the winner this year by the Kerry Association in Dublin, while the Kerry Senior football team were selected as the Laochra Chiarraí award winners.
The awards are now in their 44th year, recognising an individual who has shown leadership, brought honour to the county, and performed services for the county beyond the norm of everyday life.
This year’s Kerry Person of the Year is the successful entrepreneur and philanthropist David Walsh from Cordal.
Mr Walsh founded the company Netwatch, which grew from start-up to a global company with around 250,000 customers across the world.
He also created the Beatrice Pembroke Walsh Foundation, in memory of David’s late wife Beatrice from Castleisland, who lost her life to an aggressive and extremely rare form of cancer.
Meanwhile, the Kerry Senior Football team has been named the 2025 Laochra Chiarraí award winners, in recognition for their magnificent display in this year’s All-Ireland final.
The Kerry Association in Dublin says the team brought a huge sense of pride and joy to the county with the brand of football they played, and the manner in which they represent the county and wear the Kerry jersey with pride.
