Lidl has started construction on a new store in mid-Kerry that’ll create up to 30 new jobs.
This new state-of-the-art store will be located on Laharn Road, Killorglin.
It’s expected to be open later this year.
Planning permission for the new store in Killorglin was approved last year, and this development will see Lidl open it’s eighth shop in Kerry.
Lidl Ireland says this new store will create up to 30 new, permanent jobs, while up to 100 construction jobs will also be supported during the development phase.
Contractors NRS Group have begun construction to develop the over 1,300 (1,398) square metre sales floor area retail unit.
Having first opened in the county in Killarney in 2000, Lidl Ireland currently employs more than 130 people in the county across its stores in Listowel, Dingle, Killarney, Kenmare, Castleisland, and two stores in Tralee.
Turning the sod at Lidl’s new site in Killorglin, Regional Managing Director for Lidl Ireland Tara O’Connor said they’d an ambition to have a store in the town for many years and she says this development represents a major investment and a contribution to the local economy of Killorglin.
