A Coast Guard rescue helicopter went to the assistance of a diver who got into difficult off the Beara Peninsula.
The Coast Guard's Marine Rescue Coordination Centre at Valentia received a call for assistance at around 3:35pm yesterday (Sunday, 28 June).
A group of four divers had been exploring near Cuas Pier Caves, Ardgroom in Kenmare Bay.
Three returned to shore safely, however one of the group became too fatigued to do so.
Valentia tasked Castletownbere Coast Guard and Derrynane Inshore Rescue to assist.
Coast Guard rescue helicopter 117 from Waterford airlifted the diver to safety, winching them into the helicopter before returning them to the rest of the group.
The diver was medically assessed by Castletownbere Coast Guards and did not need further medical treatment.
