Castleisland councillors will write to the Southern Regional Assembly looking for clarification on renewable wind energy contributions.
It follows a motion at a recent Castleisland councillors from Fianna Fáil councillor, Fionnán Fitzgerald.
He highlighted that legislation is going through the Oireachtas on renewable energy output and capacity over the next few years.
Cllr Fitzgerald noted that Kerry produces 12% of the countries output, adding the Southern Region is expected to increase onshore wind energy by 37% to meet targets.
He said clarity is needed in relation to this and questions need to be asked on what changes could be made to the grid system.
The motion was seconded by independent councillor Charlie Farrelly.
