There are calls for case managers to be appointed for the 29 specific cases whereby the council are not making progress with landowners for the South Kerry Greenway.
Cathaoirleach of the Kenmare Municipal District, Fianna Fáil councillor Norma Moriarty, made the call to help overcome barriers between the council and landowners along the route.
Cllr Moriarty says of the 133 landowners affected along the 32km route, there are 29 remaining where significant progress still needs to be made.
The Fianna Fáil councillor says it’s unlikely the greenway will be open fully before 2030, but sections could be open next year.
She says there was a positive reaction to her suggestion for case managers to be appointed in each of the 29 cases in which there is work to be done to progress acquisition.
