Aontú candidate for the Kenmare Local Electoral Area is calling for boarded-up council properties to be brought back into use.
Catherina O'Sullivan says these properties should be renovated by private contractors for those in need of social housing or for sale to first-time buyers.
She believes this would alleviate pressure on the housing market
