There are calls for a Kerry government minister to intervene before apartments are built at the former Bessborough mother and baby home.
Planning permission for 140 new apartments was granted in December on the grounds where thousands of unmarried women and their children were homed.
The Labour Party is set to appeal that planning decision, and will protest if necessary, as they believe that the remains of children are buried at the site in unmarked graves.
Around ten per cent of the 10,000 women homed at the centre in Blackrock in Cork, were from Kerry.
Labour Party Senator Laura Harmon says the government should buy the site and conduct a survey to find any remains there.
