Calls for Government to intervene to minimise job losses in Kostal Abbeyfeale

There are calls for the Government to intervene to minimise job losses in Kostal Abbeyfeale.

The company has operated in Ireland since 1981 and has plants in Abbeyfeale and Mallow.

There are growing concerns that workers will be laid off by Kostal in Abbeyfeale and that production of On-Board Chargers for electric cars, which are made at the factory, will be transferred to Kostal China.

The scale and timeline of any layoffs are not yet known.

Fine Gael councillor Liam Galvin who is from Abbeyfeale previously worked at the West Limerick plant.

He says this is a worrying trend that will continue because the cost of doing business is so expensive in Ireland.
