A county councillor wants an All-Ireland-like homecoming in Killarney to celebrate Jessie Buckley, if she wins an Oscar.

The 36-year old Hollywood star is in contention to win an Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance in Hamnet.

She has already won a Golden Globe and Bafta for her performance.

Councillor Niall ‘Botty’ O’Callaghan told a recent full council meeting that “we'll welcome her … into the car park in Killarney, like it was an All-Ireland final victory as we should”.

The Oscars get underway on Sunday, 15th March at 11pm.
