CAB’s seizure and sale of a property in Kerry has raised more than €350,000 for the State.
The details are contained in the 2024 Annual Report of the Criminal Assets Bureau.
CAB conducted an investigation into the assets and activities of a member of an organised crime group based in Kerry whose modus operandi was deception offences and carrying out substandard building works.
A property was identified in this county that had been transferred to the benefit of the individual targeted.
At the time of this transfer in 2014, the property was valued at €100,000.
The Criminal Assets Bureau entered into a tax settlement agreement with this individual in 2020.
The individual agreed to pay CAB €180,000 and also agreed to the property being sold in settlement of his outstanding tax liabilities.
The bureau sold this property, by way of public auction, for over €172, 268.
The total amount received as a result of the tax agreement was €352,268.22.
