Beaufort must wait seven more years for a wastewater treatment plant

It emerged in the Dáil this week that it will be seven years before a wastewater treatment plant will open in Beaufort.

In December, the Department of Housing and Local Government increased the funding, allocated for the Beaufort plant, to seven million euro (€7million).

It will connect to existing homes, and enable the construction of new homes, to safeguard water quality in the area.

Minister of State Michael Healy Rae told the chamber that another seven years is “too long for the people of Beaufort” to wait.

Deputy Michael Cahill said ten years to get a scheme from start to finish is too much:
