The median fee for childcare in Kerry is €180 per child per week.
That's according to information released to the Irish Independent today.
The Kerry figure is slightly below the national average of €190 per week.
The difference between the most affordable county, Leitrim at €150/week, and the most expensive, Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown at €258/week equates to a difference of over €5,200 per annum.
Earlier this month, the Minister for Children, Disability, and Equality, and Kerry Fianna Fáil TD, Norma Foley announced an increase in state funding.
The move was part of the government’s promise to gradually cap early childcare fees at a maximum of €200 per month per child during the lifetime of the government.
