Around one in five commercial buildings are vacant in Tralee and Listowel.
That’s according to the GeoDirectory Commercial Buildings Report, for the fourth quarter of last year.
Kerry’s overall rate of commercial vacancy is among the lowest in Ireland.
The national rate of commercial vacancy for the last three months of 2024 was 14.5%.
Kerry’s commercial vacancy rate overall was 12.3%, a very slight reduction in the space of a year.
Meath and Wexford were the only counties to have fewer commercial buildings vacant.
GeoDirectory also surveys the towns of Listowel, Tralee, and Killarney.
Listowel still has the highest rate of commercial vacancy within Kerry at just under 21%, a minor increase on its figure at the end of 2023.
There are fewer vacant commercial premises in Tralee than there were at the end of 2023, but the town's vacancy rate remains at almost 19%.
Killarney’s rate of commercial vacancy reduced slightly to 11.3% in the last three months of 2024.
Over half of all commercial premises in use in Kerry, are occupied by the services sector, with almost a quarter occupied by retail and wholesale.
