Two approved housing bodies have condemned anti-social and allegedly violent behaviour displayed at a Kerry estate.
It follows the circulation of several videos online purporting to show people at Riverside Housing Estate in Castleisland littering, shouting and fighting.
67 new homes were opened at the housing estate on the Killarney Road in the town in April 2024.
Kerry County Council says it has no comment on the matter and stated Riverside is an approved housing bodies development with portions managed by Cooperative Housing Ireland and Focus Ireland.
An Garda Síochána says it’s aware of an alleged incident at the social housing development between May 13th and 14th.
Co-operative Housing Ireland (CHI) and Focus Ireland Housing provide units at the Riverside Estate in Castleisland.
A series of videos and social media posts have emerged in recent days, meanwhile residents have highlighted concerns around ongoing disturbances.
These include community welfare and safety concerns, alleged unsafe behaviour, rubbish accumulation, public urination and an alleged vehicle fire.
Videos from the estate purport to show one property heavily littered inside and outside the premises.
Other videos show heated exchanges between people, pushing, roaring and two adults scuffling on the floor outside a home.
CHI says it’s appalled by the behaviour displayed in videos at the estate.
It added while it would not be appropriate to comment on individual cases, CHI takes complaints of anti-social behaviour very seriously and proactively.
The company continued that it is the first approved housing body to introduce a dedicated Safer Neighbourhood Team, designed to provide support services to families and individuals.
Focus Housing Ireland says it cannot provide information while inquiries are ongoing as this could prejudice its work or individuals involved.
However, it has followed up this incident with relevant stakeholders, including local Gardaí and warnings will be issued in accordance to guidelines under legislation overseen by the Residential Tenancies Board (RTB).
Focus Housing Association added it takes all complaints very seriously and complaints relating to tenants are followed up by the housing team and action taken by the Residential Tenancies Act.
An Garda Síochána say enquiries into an alleged incident at the Riverside Estate are ongoing and anyone with information is urged to contact Castleisland Garda Station.
Castleisland Garda Station can be contacted on 066 714 1204.
