An appeal has been lodged against planning permission for 134 new homes in Killarney.
Earlier this month, Kerry County Council approved the application for the development at Scrahane on Ross Road.
Developer, Homeland Projects Ltd, was granted permission, with conditions, for a largescale residential development (LRD).
The project would comprise ten × four-bed and 55 × three-bed houses, 32 × three-bed and 19 × two-bed townhouses, twelve × two-bed and six × one-bed apartments.
The proposed development would also include a crèche for up to 102 children, car parking with EV charging points, and bicycle parking.
An appeal was lodged to An Coimisiún Pleanála by Castle Falls Residents Association and residents of 53-65 Cahernane Meadows.
In a letter to the commission, the resident’s association says their appeal was made due to three new proposed walkways from the Ross Road housing development through the Castlefalls Housing Estate.
They argue the walkways would overburden the estate with congestion and risk public safety, especially as it is the only access point to Ross Road including for busses, cars, cyclists, and Killarney Racecourse traffic.
An Coimisiún Pleanála is due decide the case by the 17th February (2026).
