An tOireachtas (Oireachtas na Gaeilge) is accepting applications for four new funding schemes that support Irish language performing arts in communities nationwide.
The supports are available for new and established community drama groups, as well as community projects, events, and workshops.
Fána is a mentoring and support programme for new and established community drama companies.
Ar Ardán is a sponsorship scheme to help community drama groups stage a play for the public.
Fódú is a sponsorship programme to support Irish language-based performing arts projects, festivals, events, and gatherings.
While, Ar Bharr do Theanga provides funding for Irish language-based performing arts workshops to foster practice development outside the Gaeltacht.
The application deadline for these schemes is Monday, 29th September.
These schemes are being announced in response to the Oireachtas’ Four-Year Action Plan for Irish Language-Based Performing Arts, guided by the National Strategy for Irish Language-Based Arts, with funding from the Department of Rural and Community Development and Gaeltacht.
The schemes support work where the Irish language is central to performance, including traditional and contemporary forms such as agallaimh bheirte (duologue), lúibíní (versified dialogue), storytelling, poetry, rap, and contemporary and sean-nós song.
An online information session on the ‘Fána’ and ‘Ar Ardán’ schemes will be held on 10th September.
